Making a fine portrait requires far more than expensive cameras and lenses.
I believe that some of the most enduring (and endearing) portraits are made when there is rapport between the subject and the photographer. For a portrait to be more than a pretty picture, this rapport needs to be real; then it can help to create an atmosphere that allows the essence of the person to come through the photograph. This is how the subject and I work together to create images that say something quintessential about the person.
My approach to portraiture is intuitive, relaxed, and natural-I tend toward a classic, timeless look that reveals character and I work hard with my subjects to create that image. This can be fun.
