Toronto based photographer, Michael G. O'Brien is known primarily for the intuitive, natural way that he photographs people and places. His oeuvre is diverse with projects involving people, nature, urban landscapes and architecture. His commissioned portrait photographs, as well as his travel and documentary images of people, are direct and strong. Michael's work explores the themes of identity in the individual, the family and the community. This approach continues into Michael's intimate photo-essays of the places to which he travels.
Michael is a very passionate teacher and mentor working privately and at local Colleges here in Toronto. Many aspiring photographers look to his personalized mentoring programs and his one-on-one training sessions for inspiration during the growth of their photography practice. He also offers workshops that emphasize the creative use of digital workflow tools to build powerful photographs.
